“The builders”

SMIRNOV VALENTIN, born on July 13 1927 in Yaroslavl – died in 2009 – Ukrainian painter, specialist in easel and monumental painting. Graduated in 1955 from the Kyiv Art Institute (currently National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture), in the Studio of Professor Serhiia Hryhorieva. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Since 1958. Exhibited his works at the Annual National Exhibitions, Annual All-Union Exhibitions, International Exhibitions in Poland and Hungary. Since 1993, his best works were sold at auctions: Phillips (UK), John Nicholson (USA), Duran (Spain). National Union of Artists of Ukraine twice awarded Smirnov the medal for the best artwork of the year. The artist’s works are exhibited in many museums in Ukraine, kept in private collections and highly valued by collectors. The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has acquired over 60 paintings by Valentin Smirnov.
