“Still life with strawberries”

VOLOBUIEV YEVHEN, born 1912, Varvarivka village, Kharkiv oblast – died in 2002, Kyiv – Ukrainian painter, author of landscapes, still life and genre paintings. People’s artist of Ukraine. Merited artist of the USSR. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. 1928 – 1931 he studied at the Kharkiv Art College, in 1931–1935 – In the Kharkiv Art Institute, and in 1940 graduated from Kyiv Art Institute (now the НАОМА), tutors: M. Sharonov, F.Krychevskyi, D. Shavukin. The main representative of the lyrical trend in ukrainian art, ukrainian classic, author of the finest landscapes and still lifes. M. Hlushchenko called him “Ukrainian Sharden”. Participant of national, all-Union, international and solo exhibitions. Lately, his works appeared at prestigious exhibitions in Germany, Belgium, England and USA. Works are stored in museums in Ukraine and abroad.
